Great People:J.K.Rowling

Today is J.K.Rowling's birthday! I am sure that everyone has read books about Harry Potter and I'm sure that everyone knows this wonderful writer.
I am not going to write about J.Rowling's biography(if you want to know smth. just visit her site http://www.jkrowling.com/en_GB/#/) I want to share with you some interesting facts.

  •  Real name of the writer is Joanne Rowling Murray, not Joan Kathleen Rowling, as many people think. Before the first publication her publisher feared that boys would be reluctant to buy a book written by a woman. Therefore, Rowling was asked to use initials instead of the full name. At the same time, publishers wanted the initials consisted of two letters. Rowling chose for the second name initials of her grandmother, Kathleen. Also, she chose this name  because of the alphabetical harmony - in the English alphabet letter K comes immediately after the letter J.
  • Asteroid number 43844 took name after the famous writer( on the proposal of the astronomer who discovered)

  • Harry Potter was born on 31 July 1980, the date of birth of Rowling is July 31, 1965.
  • JK Rowling after the last Harry Potter movie poster created pottermore.com which promised to add new information about Harry.
    •  February 23, 2012 a new book of JK Rowling was announced.
    So Смайлы День рождения dear writer!

    Hot Dog Day

    Every year on July 18 Americans celebrate the National Hot Dog Day.It's  a holiday devoted to the traditional American dish. A sausage  poured with ketchup or mustard and put into the bun is today considered to be a classic American dish.
    By the way, every U.S. state has got  its own recipe for this popular dish. For example, in the southern U.S.people make corn  hotdogs, in Kansas they add the grated cheese and sauerkraut, in Chicago they cook crab and apple hotdogs. Even the usual ketchup and mustard can be  replaced with a mayonnaise-based on wasabi and avocado, and some people offer to try a hot dog with peanut butter and foie gras. And these are just some examples.
    A homemade hot dog is a surprisingly tasty thing, it is much healthier and more appetizing and it can be done without much effort - a list of the required products is small, and the rest is the case of your imagination.
    For buns we need:
    -1/3 cup of water;
    - 60-70 g. of oil;
    - 500 g of high quality flour;
    - 8-10 g of sugar;
    - 6-8 g of yeast;
    - 3-4 g of salt;
    - Spices (paprika, pepper, etc.)
    For the sauce (the easiest, but the original example):
    - onion ;
    - Garlic;
    - Mayonnaise;
    - Horseradish.
    You can use
    - Cheese;
    - Pickles;
    - Other ingredients (spices, lettuce, etc.)
    Recipe
    A bun for homemade hot dogs is simply to do: mix  the dough ingredients in the warm water, leave for a quarter of an hour. Form long rolls, wait a few minutes and send them in the oven for 11-16 minutes. You can bypass this step and buy a bun in the shop (although in this case you can't be sure in its  quality).
    The original sauce for a homemade hotdog can be cooked in a few minutes: Mix the mayonnaise with the chopped onion, add the crushed garlic and a bit of horseradish. If you like you can add the herbs and spices, do not be afraid to experiment - a single sauce for hot dogs has  never existed.
    Now we can make the hotdog: make a cut in a bun, put inside it a sausage, top with sauce and add supplements to your taste (cheese, cucumbers, etc.). You can follow certain prescriptions (eg, Chicago hotdog is made with tomatoes, hot peppers, pickles, onions and mustard, a Mexican hotdog has got sliced avocado and bacon, onions and beans).There is a  great number of variations. The  hotdog  we put  in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.  Well Done!Here it is our hot dog!

    And what about you? How do you cook your hot dog? Please share your recipes with us.

    It's interesting: Photographer Day

    Today is Photographer Day! We all like taking photos and watching photos taken by other people.I think it's amazing to recollect beautiful moments which cannot be repeated any more. But they are kept due to photographers who depicted  these moments on their amazing shots for us.
    Photographer Day is traditionally celebrated on July 12 - a day of St. Veronica, who is considered to be
    the patroness of photography.
    Saint Veronica, according to the Bible, gave to Jesus who was going to Golgotha, the fabric so he could wipe the sweat from his face. This fabric imprinted the face of Christ. Almost two millennia later, when the photo was invented, the Pope declared this day as the World Day of  photographer.
    The first photo was taken in 1826 by Frenchman Joseph Nicephore Niepce, called "View from the window." Shooting lasted for 8 hours. It is known that the first pictures were black and white. The first color pictures appeared in the middle of the XIX century, and to create them photographers used three cameras - installed on each filter (red, green and blue), and then combined images.
    And here are some amazing photos for you:

    Event: Chocolate Day

    On July 11 we celebrate World Chocolate Day.This sweet holiday was invented by the French in 1995. Chocolate by definition is a confection of cacao. In Latin this kind of tree is called Theobroma cacao, it comes from tropical America and in this moment is cultivated in most tropical countries.The scientific name Theobroma (from the Greek "food of the gods") was given by the famous Swede Carl Linnaeus in the XVIII century. Cacao  has got Aztec origins. The Aztecs knew cocoa from the XIV century, they considered it sacred and revered it as a gift of God Quetzalcoatl. However, the cocoa beans were not used for sacrifices, but as  means of calculation and preparation of tart spicy drink.The Spanish conquistadors brought chocolate to Europa, and for many years it was eaten only by  aristocrats.
    For a long time  the chocolate was in a liquid form. A familiar tiled form appeared only in the middle of the XIX century. However, only in the early twentieth century -due to the  industrial production - chocolate was spread everywhere.
    Here are some useful advice howto choose a good kind of chocolate:
    1. Pay attention to the package. It should be sealed.
    2. Apearance of the bar of chocolate. Dark chocolate is brighter than milk one.
    3. Taste. Remember good chocolate melts in your mouth and not in your hands.

    Holidays: The 4th of July

    On Friday American people are going to celebrate a major national holiday the Independence Day, dedicated to the signing of the declaration, which declared the country free from the domination of the British Crown.
    In many major U.S. cities parades and fireworks will be held. One of the most colorful fireworks show is traditionally held in New York. Tens of thousands of charges which  more than 20 minutes will decorate the sky in different colors will be launched from three barges on the East River. Of course, blue, white and red,  the colors of the American flag, will predominate.

    This year's presentation will be devoted to the 200th anniversary of the writing of the national anthem of the United States, the song "The Star Spangled Banner" and  its background   was the famous Brooklyn Bridge, connecting  Manhattan and Brooklyn. The show, which will be monitored for hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors of the largest American cities,is annually organized  by the trading corporation Macy's. The last five years it has, however, held on the other side of Manhattan - on the Hudson River.
    I want to congratulate all my American friends on the Independence Day and wish them a sparkling 4th of July filled with pride, honor and lots of fun!
    And let's watch the video and listen to the American National Anthem
    ("The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort McHenry", a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet, Francis Scott Key, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy ships in Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.

    The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. The singer is Sandi Patty)
